W. Rickert Fillmore's architectural drawing from 1927 depicts his vision for Unity Farm.

W. Rickert Fillmore, Architect

The Fillmore's second son, W. Rickert, studied architecture at the Chicago Institute of Art and particularly admired the Mediterranean style he observed while visiting Italy. Rickert created a master plan to develop Unity Farm into a city, a place to conduct the work of the Unity movement. He envisioned eight new buildings, and sketched a number of architectural drawings of them. Although Rickert's master plan was not realized until 1989 and many of the buildings were not as ornate as he originally designed them, all of the structures were built in the locations he planned.

The first two Mediterranean-style buildings to be constructed were the Unity Tower and the Silent Unity Building.
