Charles Fillmore

Threefold Mission of Unity

To share their new way of thinking, in 1889 the Fillmores decided to publish a magazine. Charles named it Modern Thought, later changed to Unity

As more and more people learned of Myrtle and Charles’s work, it was a logical next step for the Fillmores to provide spiritual healing sessions. It soon became clear that there were too many people interested in the work for the Fillmores to handle on their own. Other like-minded people were brought in to help meet the requests for prayer. This was the beginning of the 24-hour Silent Unity prayer ministry.

To meet increasing demand for Truth, Charles began teaching classes to share metaphysical principles and ideas that people could use in their daily lives.

Charles never intended to create a church or religious organization. For the Fillmores, the mission of Unity was clear: publishing, prayer, and education.
