Early Years/Family
Wilfred Eric Butterworth was born on September 12, 1916, in Winnipeg, Canada and raised in California. Eric attended California State University at Fresno and graduated with a music degree from Capital University in Ohio. During World War II, he served as a chaplain and a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He was married for 30 years to Myrtle Catherine Jones and together they had three sons. In 1972, Eric married Olga Bacco who worked side by side with him in his ministry.
